A Whining Commissioner in Henry County

Here is the 5th District Commissioner of Henry County, GA philosophy on political parties.   Spoken by him, "Bruce Holmes-- It’s the system. If you don’t figure out a way to win within it, you will never get that boot off your throat. Winning comes from people uniting around a common interest, dissenting from things in which they strongly disagree and participating in the process. If you’re in-line with helping yourself and friends who only benefit you; you are a republican. If you believe that a raising tide lifts all boats; you’re a democrat. Republicans only advocate for non-partisan elections when minorities become the majority, then sale you how it’s such a great thing. The real purpose is maintaining power so they can continue to maintain control of the allocation of resources."  This is spoken like a true communist and not a democrat or republican.  But he does believe in a Capitalist form of government because he doesn't refuse any money.  And isn't it interesting that it always comes down to race?  The system of being non-partisan was created by the democrat party in Henry County and Georgia long before it was run by the blacks.  Yes, those were the white democrats that started that.  He can't make that ship float because he has no water to hold it up.

Sounds OF Summer Not Liked By All

Hello, I am sending this to your news blog because you don't mind posting the truth.  My name is Aiesha Lemark-Brand and I am an African-American woman who attended the Sounds of Summer Concert in Stockbridge on June 16, 2018.  What was billed to be a huge event for the city was not impressive at all.  I felt really out of place there, because the diversity is non-existent which shows the poor quality of the event.  I know you all have heard white people call lower class whites, "white trash," well I saw plenty of "black trash" at this event.  Until you start having real groups, with real name recognition you will not have quality people come to these events.  This reminded me of the hood.

Ongoing Problem At The Veterans Wall Of Honor

This article is about an ongoing problem at the Veterans Wall of Honor at Heritage Park in McDonough, GA.  For several years the Wall has needed some TLC.  Looking at some recent photos of the Wall in 2018 you can see where the stone has become more discolored,  there are stars missing from the plaques on the Wall, the stanchions that hold the flag poles are still in bad condition, the pavers are not looking good and some of the ink is missing from the names, and the main flagpole base on all four sides has ink missing from the words of the Pledge of Allegiance.  Back over eight years ago, the county was to start and do something about maintaining this site for the Veterans.  They did some work at that time and it is appreciated, but the time since then has taken its toll on the wall.  At that time stars were bought to fix those missing from that time and they had enough to last a while, but as you can see in the photos those stars are once again missing.  The Henry County government should take more of a role in taking care of this site for the Veterans and loved ones of those Veterans.   Henry County is lax in that department.  Any monument or memorial to our Veterans should be maintained especially when it is on County Property and the families who paid for those pavers and there are many would like to see them maintained.

Veterans Wall Of Honor In Bad Shape

A friend had a person from out of town to visit for the weekend who wanted to go to the Veterans Wall of Honor at Heritage Park in McDonough.  So, they took him and he was taken aback by some things he saw there.  This man is a Veteran of the United States Navy and he is an electrician and electrical inspector where he lives.  He said that there is some shoddy electrical work that was done at this site.  He could not believe that it passed inspection.  He also noted that the plaques on the Wall are missing some stars that hold them on the Wall.  He walked down the Walk of Honor and noticed that the black is coming off several of the names.  He said that there needs to be some serious maintenance done to this Veterans military site.  He said the Wall needs a thorough cleaning and wondered if there is regular inspections on this area.  Our friend really did not know how to answer him.  Our friend was embarrassed by what this man found at the Wall of Honor.   Maybe the county needs to look into maintaining this area better than they have in the past.  This place that is used to honor those who have served and died for this nation should have better care.  It looks like those at the County leadership level have different priorities and agendas instead of keeping up what they have already.

Stockbridge Still Dysfunctional

Stockbridge Still Dysfunctional

This past Saturday, May 12, 2018,  Stockbridge yet again demonstrated just how dysfunctional and bias they truly are in the large scheme of things. They held a cemetery clean-up day at Memorial Cemetery. They have done this for the past few years at the same cemetery. Yet there are 13 cemeteries in the City limits and four just outside that could be included. But Stockbridge has consistently left all of them out of the picture and just keep up Memorial Cemetery. All of those buried there are black and were good citizens of the city. But the 13 other cemeteries are a mix of black and white. They all also were good citizens of the city. I have said this before to the city that companies look at how you take care of the cemeteries before they decide to locate to your city or town. Stockbridge has had a lot of bad press over the years and some are calling for the charter to be pulled. 

The bad press got going good just a few years ago when a person was elected to the Council that claims  Atlanta South on everything he speaks like a two dollar whore having a 2 for 1 special. He has cost the city money with lawsuits on top of lawsuits. Just recently he admitted to being the one that lead the charge that would not even let me ask to speak to the Council about Confederate History Month. Yes, he violated my First Amendment right to free speech that he himself claims. I am not the only one he has wronged. He has done more to the point he is in court because of his inept actions as a human. A friend asked me one time what I thought about Mr. Atlanta South. I looked at them and said he would make a great poster child for the use of condoms. But all's not lost with the upcoming vote about the Eagles Landing becoming a City. If the voters pass it he would be out of a job on the Council because he would be in the new City. And I don’t think the new City would elect him to the Council they have seen how he has drug down Stockbridge. I laugh about that all the time how’s that for karma Mr. Atlanta South LOL!!!

I hope the City of Stockbridge will be better but only time will tell. Here is a list of the cemeteries in the City and the others that are so close. Let’s let the City know we are watching them by contacting them and asking why they are not cleaning up the other cemeteries. If they still don’t do what’s right well I guess karma will take over like it did for Atlanta South LOL.

Henry County Recycling Center Closing In June

It looks like the Henry County Recycling Center is closing by the end of June 2018.  Now, this isn't published in any news outlet and the information comes directly from those working at the site.  Just think you Board of Commissioners is going to close a vital service to the community that is paid for through your taxes.  Interesting to note there are people who think it is okay to let it close.  Where do they think this stuff will end up, that's right on the sides of the roads and in woods or your very own cul-de-sac.  The landfills such as in Clayton County are charging over a $100 for things to be taken there.  Henry County has needed another landfill for decades now.  And it is laughable that they suggest taking things down to Spalding County on the other side of Hwy 16 to the landfill on Bailey Jester Road.  Yes, it cost money to operate a recycling center or landfill, but they are needed essentials in any community because humans produce trash at an alarming rate.  But it is a disgrace that the commissioners haven't the backbone to face the citizens and let them know that this service is being closed down.  Maybe this is part of the new direction we are hearing about from the building where people hide from the press and attack citizens who ask why these things are happening with no answers just more of the same rhetoric.  Just remember as you are riding down the road and there are piles of metal, glass, car batteries, tires and other recyclable materials along that rode who is at fault.  Elections are coming and it is time for many changes in that cathedral of what is supposed to be legislative action to help citizens not hurt them.  Remember when you pay your tax bill on your property that has increased in value and ask why isn't part of this being used to keep Henry Clean.

Confederate History Month 2018

To those of us who remember our ancestors in April of each year that fought in the War Between the States from Georgia, we take pride in the many of them who died in that war for their country, which at that time was the Confederate States of America.  After the war ended, and the states rejoined the Union and the United States became whole once more the northern states and southern states went through a transition period known as Reconstruction.  After all, that was said and done by the time President McKinley was in office he extended a hand to those who had fought in that war from the south and began a true healing process.  The southern veterans were granted pensions that were paid by the United States Government.  The US government continued over the years to make it so that graves could be marked with military markers for the southern veterans.  This has been handled through the Veterans Administration Office.  Then, by the 1950's Congress recognized the veterans of the south as being veterans of America just as the Union veterans.   Many presidents since McKinley have paid homage to the veterans who fought for the Confederacy.  That is why many places still remember April as Confederate History Month and as Confederate Memorial Day.  Georgia stopped recognizing it as a holiday because of the shooting at the African-American Church in Charleston, S.C. by a demented young man with hate in his heart.  Georgia rode the tide of hate against everything confederate across the south and were politically correct to appease those who hate anything Confederate.  But to those who still care about their ancestors, they still recognize them today.  Many are recognized on the traditional Memorial Day in May just as all other American troops are recognized that died in service to their nation.  People need to start leaving hate aside and study the true history of those who fought in that war against one another who were friends before the war and were friends afterward.  Especially, the leaders from both sides. The people of today might learn a great lesson from them as they extended hands of friendship to one another.
